The Coders Cup is an annual intra-university Speed Programming Competition held at FAST-NUCES, Karachi. It’s not just any other speed programming competition; it’s a legacy, a tradition, and the greatest platform to sharpen programming skills.
The closing of the Coders Cup ceremony took place on the 23rd of November, 2016. The event was hosted by the Content Head of ACM, the ever charming, Yusra Akhlaq. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Jamal Abidy. Then the President of ACM-NUCES, Umar Ayub, delivered an inspiring speech on the merits of teamwork and the advantages of competitions like these. He went on to elucidate how the Coders Cup is not any average speed programming competition. It’s a battle of wit, a duel of logic, and a clash of the best of minds. His enterprising speech was met with raucous applause and he ended his address followed by praising all the team members that made this huge event a roaring success. Then the host invited Sir Rafi, one of the senior most teachers at FAST, to distribute the individual awards and to honour the winners. The audience was waiting, an eerie tension filled the air as the names of the winners were about to be disclosed. “And the winners of the Coders Cup 2016 are the Omar Khayyam House” announced the host. The entire auditorium erupted with cheers and hoots as the broadly smiling teams stepped onto the stage to claim what was rightfully theirs, the Coders Cup! Lead by the faculty heads of the house, Sir Shahbaz Siddiqui and Dr. Zulfiqar Memon, they posed with the enormous award and soaked in the well deserved moment of limelight. As they exited the stage, the host formally ended the ceremony and thanked the audience for their patience. Hence, the curtain fell on the Coders Cup 2016 until next year.
